Gain Control on the Court/Field

Have you ever been in a game and can’t seem to get a grip on your actions and thoughts? You’re making one mistake after another, even though you’ve done these skills a thousand times. You start to go into a negative spiral with your thoughts and can’t snap out of it. You want a reset button, but the whistle keeps blowing and you can’t stop the game. We’ve all been there.

If we can’t gain control of our thoughts and actions, we could lose the game or worse – we could disappoint our coaches and teammates.

So, how do we pause and reset? Maybe we don’t have any more time-outs. Maybe we don’t have a sub to come in for us. Maybe we only have 10 seconds to get it together.

The good news is, all you need to do is take a DEEP BREATH to bounce back and get control.

Practice to Perform

Just like you practice your sport each week to perform during a game, you should also practice breathwork.

Breathwork is an effective and powerful tool that athletes can use at any time. Just one deep breath with a long exhale can immediately down-regulate your nervous system, get you to a better state emotionally and physically, and help you find control over your thoughts and actions.

Practicing breathwork off the court/field is the best way to to prepare yourself so that your body naturally knows what to do when you get to your breaking point on the court/field.
