We may not be doing our soul work on a strict weekly schedule, but we are doing it! Life is crazy and sometimes you just have to do what you can, when you can, and move on.
This week I completed Lesson 4 of our Vow To program. Lesson 4’s Vow To Mantra is “I vow to listen to my voice of wisdom”. Or, my VOW! See what they did there? This lesson teaches us to shift the negative perceptions about ourselves and others. With that, we can liberate ourselves and reach our true potential. Allow your inner voice of wisdom to be louder and more powerful than your inner critic by letting go of anger and judgment and replacing them with curiosity and compassion.
My interpretation of this lesson is to listen wisely to your inner judgment and thoughts about yourself and others. We all have positive thoughts and negative thoughts. It is our duty to decipher the source of those thoughts and notify their purpose. If the judgment comes from a place of criticism, we simply need to let those thoughts go. Negative judgment does not serve you or the people around you…ever. Instead, take your positive thoughts and realize those thoughts come from a place of wisdom, peace and joy. Positive thoughts are true to yourself and treat your soul with care.
While doing soul work for Lesson 4, I’m able to relate this to Day 4 of Deepak Chopra’s Meditation Experience. Deepak says that your body is your best friend. Treat your body how you would treat your very best friend. Shower it with honest compliments. Feed it with nutritious and yummy food. Exercise it. Do what makes it feel good. Encourage and support it.
We need to notice judgment and criticism, when it relates to ourselves and others. We need to let our negative perceptions go. They do not serve you. And as we say in yoga, if it does not serve you, let it go. You are only on this earth for a short while. Use your time wisely. Do what positively serves you and, more importantly, your God.
