So, what is a FMS Screening?
FMS is the screening tool used to identify limitations or asymmetries in seven fundamental movement patterns that are key to functional movement quality in individuals with no current pain complaint or known musculoskeletal injury.
These movement patterns are designed to provide observable performance of basic locomotor, manipulative and stabilizing movements by placing an individual in extreme positions where weaknesses and imbalances become noticeable if appropriate mobility and motor control is not utilized.
Why would I need to do an FMS Screening?
We believe all active bodies wanting to improve their performance and increase their sustainability in working out should complete a screening. Completing a screening will benefit you by identifying what areas in the body are just not functioning at 100%. The 7 step exercise screen will show your asymmetries in your body, possibly show areas that need to be corrected and show pain. Our main goal at Yoga Athletex is to keep you moving, pain free. Once you take the FMS Screening, the results will show you how you scored. If you score a 2 or 3 (on a 0-3 scale), you have some work to do but are free to start training with us!! If you score a 1, that implies your body needs some correcting, we will help you every step of the way to work back to a 2-3 for optimal performance. If you score a 0, that means you are moving with pain and we will have a doctor on staff to dissect you down to the studs to identify why you have pain, and get you back to moving pain free (all can be done at Yoga Athletex).

When should I do my FMS Screening?
Before you start working out with us! Think of it as step 2 to YAX training. Step 1 is signing up! Come in before you get an injury or after your injury rehab to see where your body is functioning. If it is off, which you would be surprised at how much you may be off, we have a personalized plan just for you to get back to your natural state to perform effectively.
Why do we care so much about proper functioning of body movements?
Let’s go back to injuries, the whole reason we are here today is because of an injury or a limitation that withheld us from working out, or playing a sport or game. We believe in FMS because if you can find out where you are weak in the body and correct it, then the chances of injuring yourself decrease significantly, which leads to a longer life of working out, playing and being pain free! This is our goal in life, to help others get to play pain free! It’s our personal goal in life too.
Okay I’m ready for my FMS screening, what should I expect?
The actual screening should take less than an hour. We will move through the 7 FMS exercises and score you from a 0-3. In a follow up session, we will give you your results and a personalized training plan suited just for you. There will also be chit chat & lots of answered questions too! We will then put you on a training plan & work with you through those exercises to improve your body back to its neutral state.
